Essential oil basic SAFETY information: Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils (concentrated plant essence) to ease common ailments. It is considered non-invasive holistic medicine. Evidence dates back to Neanderthals and Ancient Egyptians, and it has been used worldwide for centuries. Our strongest sense is smell. It promotes memories and affects our conscience thoughts of emotion. Science has confirmed that these scents have the ability to promote physical and mental health. Our blends are strictly for external use and no medical claims have been made or implied. Most essential oils should be diluted in a carrier oil, such as jojoba, coconut or olive oil.


Some Points of Caution: Never ingest therapeutic essential oils. The medicinal properties are real. Please alert me if you have one of the following conditions. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A COMPLETE LIST!

PREGNANT Women should AVOID MOST essential oils in the first trimester; always consult your physician before trying essential oils. Examples of oils to NOT use while pregnant are: basil, sage, fennel, cedar wood, juniper, rose, cinnamon, thyme, wintergreen, eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary, and clary sage. INFANTS skin is still forming and shouldn't be exposed to ANY EO’s before 3 months of age. Very few EO’s can be used on children under 6 years old. Be your own best advocate and research every EO before using on anyone.

*People with HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE: if your BP is under control small amounts of oils may be used. Otherwise, avoid eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary, basil, sage, and thyme.

*Epileptics and Others Prone to SEIZURES: should avoid eucalyptus, rosemary and sage.  It is safest to avoid most essential oils. Take caution and try one oil at a time to see how it affects you.

*People taking BLOOD THINNERS or have CLOTTING ISSUES: should NEVER use wintergreen.

*No one should EVER USE: mugwort, mustard, sassafras, tansy, wormwood, hyssop as they can easily be toxic.

*Citrus Oils are Photosensitive: this means you should avoid the sun where oils are applied to exposed skin. Some EO’s make the skin more sensitive to ultraviolet light. Examples are bergamot, lemon, lemongrass, lime, yarrow, and ginger. Do not go out into the sun with these oils on your exposed skin for 1 hour.

*Essential oils are very concentrated.

Proper use is the sole responsibility of the user. Most personal applications require drops rather than teaspoons. Adverse reactions can occur at any time to anyone. You can become sensitive after prolonged use of any oil. Diluting oils helps prevent this from happening.

* If a contact reaction occurs, apply any available carrier oil to dilute the essential oil (water wont dilute them). Keep away from eyes and mucus membranes; flush with water if this occurs.

*Please consult physician before using essential oils. Always keep your physician informed of oils you are using as some medicines may be contraindicated. Never ingest therapeutic essential oils.

*Don't use undiluted oils on your skin. Skin patch test oils before using: Dilute a couple of drops to one ounce of carrier oil; apply a small portion to the skin on your inner arm, wait 24 hours to see if reaction occurs. Do not use if redness or irritation occurs. Add more carrier oil to area to dilute for relief.

*Do not get pure essential oil on wood furniture as it will remove the finish. They can also destroy some plastics. Oils may stain clothing. Dawn dish detergent is great for spot removal.

*Keep oils tightly closed and in cool dark place. Heat causes oils to lose their therapeutic properties. Keep out of reach of children. Body products have a shelf life of one year. The pampering oil blends should last years!
